Announcement Cards

Commencement announcement cards will be available for pick-up outside the Office for Campus Life in the Campus Center beginning April 1. The announcement card is a keepsake, not a ticket. There are no tickets for Commencement, and seating is open. Information regarding access requests for students or guests with disabilities or special needs can be found here. Please be prepared for unpredictable New England weather!

Caps, gowns, and hoods

Caps, gowns, and hoods are available for purchase at the campus bookstore. Gowns and hoods vary by degree and discipline, and the bookstore staff are available for assistance with obtaining the proper regalia. Academic regalia is strongly encouraged for Phase II participants, and required for Doctoral Hooding Ceremony participants. Doctoral degree recipients who attend the GSAS or SoE graduate celebration ceremonies will be gifted a doctoral hood. Academic regalia is not available for rent.

Ceremonies and Events for Graduate Students

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering will hold events for Master’s and PhD candidates.

Diplomas

Diplomas for May graduates will be distributed in Dowling Hall on Commencement day following the Phase I ceremony (approximately 11:00am). The name printed on your diploma is the “Diploma Name” inputted into SIS; for students who have not provided a specific diploma name, the official name on record will be printed. Diplomas that are not picked up will be mailed to the “Diploma Address” inputted into SIS; the permanent address on record will be used for students who have not provided a specific diploma mailing address. Updates to the diploma name and mailing address may be made directly in SIS.

Hotel Reservations

Space is at a premium in mid-May, so you are encouraged to make lodging reservations early. The main Commencement website has more information about on-campus and off-campus lodging, as well as directions to Tufts and campus/parking maps. Please see the “Visiting Tufts” section for details.

Marching Cards and Luncheon tickets

Marching cards and three complimentary luncheon tickets (one is to be used by the graduate) are available for pick-up at the Student Services Center in Dowling Hall May 12th-15th. Please be sure to bring your student ID. If you are unable to pick-up your marching card, you may designate someone to pick it up on your behalf by contacting Student Services in advance of May 10th; you may also pick up your marching card from Student Services on Commencement day. Additional luncheon tickets are available for purchase from Monday April 1st – Wednesday May 13th at 5:00 p.m. from Dining Services; additional information is here.
