Graduates are requested to adhere to the American Council on Education’s “Academic Costume Code” which stipulates that “nothing should be worn on the academic gown.” The addition of adornments (such as stoles, pins, etc.) to the academic attire is discouraged. The American Council on Education provides useful information and guidelines on how to choose and properly display academic regalia for commencement.
Caps, gowns, and hoods can be purchased online until March 1st. Ordering early guarantees each student will have the correct size outfit for graduation. For students who miss this deadline, there will be caps and gowns available for purchase starting on April 5th through prior to commencement in the bookstore. As commencement approaches, sizing inventory for in person purchasing will be limited. For questions, contact the bookstore at 617-627-3468.
