ROTC Commissioning Ceremony Goddard Chapel, 1:00 p.m.
Baccalaureate Service Fletcher Field, 3 p.m. The traditional baccalaureate service, which honors graduating seniors at Tufts, began in 1865. "Baccalaureate'' technically means a sermon to a graduating class, and for most of Tufts' history, the inspirational message has been delivered by the university president. The address is the president's final opportunity to exhort and enlighten members of the senior class before they receive their bachelor's degrees and leave the campus as alumni/ae. In recent years, the baccalaureate has been an interfaith service, with all university chaplains organizing and participating in the service. Seniors participate in a processional in caps and gowns. Family and friends are invited to attend. The winner of the Wendell Phillips Award will speak, and members of the senior Baccalaureate Committee and the chaplains will present readings and prayers. There are also hymns and musical offerings by soloists and instrumentalists. Seniors should align for the processional for the Baccalaureate Service at 2:30 p.m. at the Fletcher Field baseball diamond.
Graduate School of Arts & Sciences Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony Cohen Auditorium, 1:30 p.m.. The university is pleased to present a hood to doctor of philosophy candidates who attend either the Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony or Commencement. The hood should be carried on the left arm to the stage, where the hooding ceremony will be performed. At Commencement, the hood should be worn. Further information concerning these arrangements will be provided in a letter from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
School of Engineering Ph.D. Hooding Engineering Ph.D.s will be hooded during Phase II of Commencement at the Engineering ceremony.

Commencement Day
8:30 a.m. Degree candidates should assemble in the appropriate locations according to their alignment areas. Marshals will be available to assist you.
8:45 a.m. The Goddard Chapel bells will begin ringing. This will be your last warning that the Academic Procession will begin promptly at 9 a.m. when the bells stop ringing.
9 a.m. Phase I, All-University Academic Procession begins.
9:30 a.m. (approximately) Commencement program begins.
11 a.m. (approximately) Recessional. (End of Phase I of Commencement ceremony.)
11:30 a.m. (approximately) Phase II ceremonies begin for individual schools, colleges, and departments. Phase II ceremonies, including luncheons, end at approximately 3 p.m.
